PARADE OF PLAYHOUSES

The Dallas CASA Parade of Playhouses is hosted each year by NorthPark Center and has been sponsored by ORIX USA since 2006. This very important event provides an opportunity for us to help CASA help abused and neglected children realize their dreams of finding safe, permanent homes. In its 14th year, this event raises public awareness about child abuse, the plight of children in foster care in Dallas County and offers ways to help. The 2009 Parade of Playhouses raised over $100,000 for Dallas CASA, which also helps train and supervise volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children in the protective care of the courts. We are very proud to have two volunteer CASA’s at OUC…Rena Pigott and Kendall Kinsman!

During the two-week Parade of Playhouses event, visitors to NorthPark can purchase raffle tickets for chances to win one of the 17 extraordinary, custom designed and built playhouses. For the second year, ORIX USA has chosen Dallas architect, Bob Borson, and Barry Buford of Buford Builders, to design and build our Japanese Playhouse. This year Bob kept a detailed diary of our house’s construction and has provided a wonderful day-to-day progress report as our playhouse comes to life.

We are excited this year that CASA has given ORIX USA playhouse raffle tickets that our employees may purchase internally (for those of you who may not be able to get to NorthPark Center). Photos of all the playhouses have been posted for you to view at the receptionist desks on 9 and 11, and raffle tickets will be available at that time as well. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Additionally, each year OUC employees have volunteered their time to sell raffle tickets for CASA at NorthPark mall. This year we have volunteer spots available on the final day of the event, August 22 and all of the slots were filled in just a few days! Drawings for the winners of the playhouses are held during the event's closing ceremony at 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 22nd... and you do not have to be present to win.

During February and March, ORIX employees raised money by hosting a Carb Luncheon, participating in raffles, purchasing the right to wear jeans to the office, and playing a fierce basketball game between co-workers on a Thursday night.
